Welcome to the Snowshoeing Group!
We are an opportunistic bunch. Once there is enough snow on Mount Washington we try to get out at least once a week, subject to weather and leader availability. Our trips can be any day of the week with start times optimized for the conditions. Our routes range from marked trails through Paradise Meadows to all day trips up to the lakes, and much more.
An email is sent to everyone in this activity group to announce each outing. How soon this email goes out depends primarily upon how stable the weather forecast is. If you plan to join an outing please read the email carefully and reply to it to sign up or if you have questions about the planned route.
General Safety:
General Safety:
We are all responsible for our own individual health and safety. Ideally we will all carry the 10 essentials recommended by ground search and rescue organizations. At the very least please bring an emergency whistle, drinking water, high energy food and extra clothing. For clothing, ask yourself how you will fare if we have to stop for an equipment or medical issue, or the weather changes unexpectedly. You will also need room in your pack to carry layers shed while we climb or break trail. Winter tires are required on the road to Mt Washington October 1 to March 31.
