We vary in our expertise, and although we always try our best, our accent is on friendly, forgiving games with lots of laughs. Our games are not just about winning, but about the social interactions we all value. We encourage reasonable table talk, as it adds to the camaraderie we share.

How we schedule games:

Play is on the first Monday of the month, followed by the second Tuesday, the third Wednesday, and the fourth Thursday. If a member wishes to play, they must respond to the call for players with a short message saying so.

A follow-up email naming the players and venue is sent within a few days. Player lists are made up on a first-come, first-served basis. Extra players are listed as spares. It is the responsibility of players who commit to play to find replacements from spares or the member list if unable to attend.

How we play:

Play starts at 7:00 p.m. and consists of five rounds of four games, with Chicago scoring. Players are randomly assigned partners by bridge tallies and play four hands before moving on to new partnerships.

On play night, everyone puts a loonie into the nightly pot, which is distributed to the winners and the unfortunate player who was saddled with the worst partners.

We each also contribute a quarter to the slam pot, which accumulates until it is won by two players who bid and make a grand slam!

Where we play:

Play is in members’ houses. Members are expected to take turns hosting within the physical limits of their houses (some have room for only 1 or 2 tables, others more).

Members willing to host up to 20 players (5 tables) can volunteer to host when they agree to play. If no one has volunteered, then a request for a host is sent.
