Members who attended our Monthly Gathering on January 8 were treated to a virtual tour of Stevenson Family Farms.
The owner of this 20-acre Dove Creek farm, Karen Stevenson, talked about all aspects of operating a grass-fed beef, pork, and egg farm. We learned about the benefits of their rotational grazing system which maximizes the use of multiple pastures during the growing season and allows cattle to receive prime feed at all times. Each animal at Stevenson Family Farms has a name, and Karen demonstrated this by identifying a few of the cows in her PowerPoint presentation. Our members had lots of questions for Karen regarding farming processes and increasing costs.
Gord Tarzwell, our club's vice-president, invited members to join the new Guest Speakers Committee and contribute to the selection of speakers for our 2026/2027 Monthly Gatherings.
